Why does the author name the characters as feeling or emotinally? What does the author want to show us through the characters?
Answer to Suka: I think the Much-Afraid's family can also be changed if they meet the Chief Shepherd. Maybe it could take a little time as the Fearings are not fond of becoming kind, but i'm sure that with the help of the Shepherd, the Fearing family can be changed into new people with new names; just like the Much- Afraid have.
1) The hind can go anywhere with its feet. Much-Afraid wanted to go to a high place and she knew that hind can go anywhere with the feet, so she wanted to get a hind't feet. 2) The shepherd loves anyone unconditionally. He loves and doesn't want to get back the love that he gives. However, Much-Afraid is afraid of loving someone, because she wants to get the love back when she loves someone. And she thinks that if she doesn't get back the love, it would hurt her.

What would be happen if 'Much-afaid' went out when chief shepherd sing a song?
Then the story will be changed a lot. Fearing represents the heart of evil that holds our spirit into devil, but by the courage (Mrs. Valiant) from the God's name, Much - Afraid was saved. So if Much - Afraid could go out when Chief Shepherd was singing, the Much - Afraid would be person without courage of God's name, so the journey would become harder.
